This unique and easy to make costume will make your child the envy of all the neighbors. My daughter loved it so much that in a 5-year period she had me make her one up 3 times! You can make the costume as elaborate or simple as you wish.
Items you will need:
Cut a piece of cardboard out wide enough to cover from shoulder-to-shoulder on your child. It should reach from just below waist to bottom of neck. Cut another piece of cardboard the same width but half as long for the back. Use two pieces of duck tap to make shoulder straps between the front and back. Put tape on both sides so it faces each other and no sticky edge are left visible. Slip the cardboard onto your child and tape the sides together loosely with more duct tape. Remove.

Undo duct tape on sides and lay out flat over a picnic table cloth. If the cloth is more than 6 inches wider on both sides trim it. Glue in place. Fold at center of shoulder areas and cut out neck. If the cloth is more than 6 inches longer than the end of the front piece of cardboard, trim it.

Glue on plates, empty containers, napkins, silverware, fake food, any thing you can think of to the front of the table cloth. Try to stay in a red/white color theme. Glue or tape all containers that can open closed. Tip: If you explain what you are doing to the employees at KFC, they will just give you everything you need.

Glue a piece of foam inside bowl to be used for headpiece. Arrange flowers in bowl. Glue bowl to headband.

Take a large basket, or picnic basket, and lay left-over pieces of table cloth inside – makes a great “goodie” basket.
Wear a red long sleeve shirt and red pants/tights. Put on white socks. You can wear white or red shoes. Or, you can take a pair of cheap white tennis shoes and block off red squares with paint/marker and use red shoe laces.
