How to Make Your Own Bubble Solution

If you are one of those moms’s that purchased a bubble machine this year, you were probably shocked to find out how quickly they go through solution. I know I was. I was also worried about what the solutions contained as my son managed to get COATED in bubble every time I turned it on. The good news is that anyone can make their own bubble solutions easily. It only takes 2-3 ingredients.

Water

If you have soft-water, you can use the water directly from your sink to make your bubble solution. However, distilled water works best.

Dish Soap

Dish soap is added at 1 part to each 10 parts of water. So if you add 10 cups of water, you will add 1 cut of soap to the solution. I prefer Dawn dish soap but I know many people who use Joy. Try what you have at home first. If you don’t like the results, try different dish soap.

Additives

You can make a bubble solution with just the top two ingredients, or you can some of the following. You can Glycerin or Karo Syrup to improve the durability of the bubbles and increase their colors. You can also add lemongrass oil to your bubble solution to repel mosquitoes. Additives are added at ¼ of a percent. So if you do 10 cups of water and 1 cup of soap, you would add ¼ a cup of your additive.
