Why spend tons of money on an expensive Halloween costume your child will wear for a couple of hours? Or days of your time creating one? The costume shown in this example was made with my 3 year olds help and still only took me about 45 minutes.
You will need the following supplies for your Color/Crayon Costume:
Print out hat and text patterns located at the bottom of this page. Cut out pattern pieces as instructed.

Tape together two poster boards and hold them up around your child to see how far they need to over lap. Make sure they are roomy enough, but not to big. Cut edges but do not glue into a cylinder yet.

Cut out the letters C O L O R using the template provided below. Cut from scrap poster board. Tape two pieces of black construction paper together. Fold in quarters and trim edges to make a long oval. Glue letters to center of oval and oval to center of full poster board.
Cut a straight, zig-zag, or wavy design from black construction paper and glue to top and bottom of poster board.

Hold up to child and mark arm hole locations. Cut out. Tape ends together.

Cut out hat piece from remaining sheet of poster board. Make into funnel shape that fits your child’s head. Trim if necessary.
