As soon as my washable mop pattern was uploaded I had customers requesting a washable duster pattern! I had purchased a Swiffer Duster over a year ago and still had it lying around. When I first purchased it I was amazed at how well it worked and I LOVED it. However, it was shocking how fast I went through the refill's that came with it, and the next box as well. I finally just quit buying them and had forgotten all about it. I pulled it out of the closet and experimented with different fabrics and designs until I came up with one I was happy with. This pattern works on both the Swiffer and the Pledge brand dusters and can be made up easily out of inexpensive items.
Directions, and patterns, are included on making two different types of dusters. I made up three dusters for less than $2 and have used them for over a month. They work well, wash well, and I enjoy the opportunity to add a little color to my boring cleaning routine. Every time I pull them out they make me smile. The pattern is provided as an electronic file.
Duster refills run about $1 each whether you buy a 5-pack or a 10-pack box. In my house, I can easily go through 3 duster pads a week - 12 a month. If I purchased enough disposable refills to last a year I would spend $144. I made three dusters for less than $2 and since they are washable I shouldn't need any more for the rest of the year. Even with the cost of the pattern you can save over $130 a year easily! The more you use your duster, the more you'll save.
A customer of mine purchased and made dusters from this pattern. Then she posted a review on www.patternview.com.
